Snapshot: The GBP is the strongest while the AUD is the weakest

USD is mixed pre-US stock opening

Below is the % changes of the strongest and weakest currencies pre-US stock opening. The GBP is the strongest, while the AUD is the weakest in quiet Easter Monday trading. 

The USD is mixed with gains vs the JPY,AUD and NZD, but declines vs the GBP, EUR, CHF and CAD.  Changes are modest.

Ranges in most of the major currency pairs vs the USD are very narrow. The GBPUSD is the most active with a range of 59 pips despite the Easter Monday trading.  However, it is back off its highs. Nevertheless, it is still higher by 41 pips.

In other markets:

  • Spot gold is up $10.85 or 0.82% at $1335.78
  • WTI crude oil is down -%0.63 or -0.95% at $64.32

The US stocks are expected to open lower with the S&P down -11 points.

US yields are higher:

  • 2 year 2.276%, up 1 bp
  • 5 year 2.582%, up 2.0 bp
  • 10 year 2.760%, up 2.2 bp
  • 30 year 2.999%, up 2.5 bp
