Reuters latest poll on RBA expectations – no rate change seen at May 1 meeting

Reuters polling of analysts ahead of the Reserve Bank of Australia monetary Policy Board meeting Tuesday May 1 2018

• 40 out of 41 economists polled see the RBA holding the cash rate steady at 1.5 pct at May 1 meeting
• Rate outlook seen unchanged until end-2018 – median of 41 analysts
• 19 of 41 respondents see rate at 1.75 pct by March 2019, 6 forecast two hikes, 15 predict steady outlook
• RBA cash rates seen at 2.0 pct by sept
  2019 – median of 38 respondents

The RBA will announce its latest decision and issue the Governor’s Statement with it, at 0430GMT on Tuesday next week. 

Yeah – there’ll be no change in the cash rate target.
