China’s central bank vice governor Fan Yifei with some comments on cryptocurrencies

Says they would promote cryptocurrency research and development

No further comments or details on the matter given so far. But China has all the while cracked down heavily on cryptocurrencies so I’m not sure what do they mean by “this year”.

Unless they are talking about a major purge or law against cryptocurrency-related dealings, then that may be escalating things to the next level.
