New York Fed names John Williams as next president

Williams moves to New York from San Francisco

• To take over from Dudley on June 18
• Powell praises Williams for his ‘insight and wise counsel’
• Williams has led SF Fed since 2011
• The NY Fed has a permanent FOMC vote

It was reported in March that Williams was the front-runner for the job.

The San Francisco Fed will now search for a replacement.
