ECB’s Coeure says that cryptocurrencies are poor imitations of money

ECB board member Benoit Coeure comments in an opinion piece with the Financial Times

He says that “policy makers are rightly worried about consumer and investor abuses, as well as illicit use”.

Further adding that “almost nobody prices goods in Bitcoin”, while noting that “few use them for payments, and as a store of value, they are no better than gambling in a casino”.

Guess we won’t be seeing him around the roulette tables any time soon, eh?
