Earthquake reported in Japan’s Nemuro area – report (update: It’s a small one)

Quick move lower in USD/JPY

No word on the strength of the earthquake but USD/JPY is down to 107.33 and flat on the day from 107.50 a few minutes ago.

Nemuro is in the far northwest of Japan so the risks are lower.

Update: Early reports on the magnitude are 5.2 or 5.7 off the southeast coast. In Japanese terms, that’s a tremor.
