BOJ’s Kuroda says that doesn’t see a big problem from ETF purchases
Comments by BOJ governor Haruhiko Kuroda – 3 April 2018

- Now is not the time to debate when and how to slow ETF purchases
- It’s too early to talk about exit strategy
- BOJ is not at a point to consider exit yet, and that includes ETF purchases
- Japanese banks have ample capital base
- Will closely monitor profit conditions of banks
- Will patiently continue current monetary easing as there is distance to price target
- Fiscal policy is up to the government
Nothing new from Kuroda that we haven’t already heard. A repeat of the usual BOJ mantra.
