A ho-hum day in stocks. Dow leads but most of gain thanks to Goldman Sachs

Still up for the 2nd consecutive day

The major indices are ending higher, but gains were somewhat ho-hum. The Dow led the way with a gain of 141 points but 110 of the gain was a result of the gain in Goldman Sachs.

The final numbers are showing:

  • The S&P index reos 5.8 points or 0.22% at 2616.10
  • The Nasdaq index rose by 10.86 points or 0.15% at 7034
  • The Dow rose 141 points ro 0.59% at 24207.16.

Goldman was the big winner. It’s stock rose by $17.33 or 9.63% to $197.24.

Other financials did well including:

  • Deutsche Bank, +7.94%
  • Bank of America, +7.16%
  • Charles Schwab, +5.49%
  • Morgan Stanley, +3.75%
  • Wells Fargo, +2.62%
  • UBS group, +2.38%
  • American Express, +1.43%
  • Citigroup, +1.3%
  • PNC financial, +0.86%
  • J.P. Morgan, +0.79%

Not a bad week for the financials.
